Marriage records are kept by the Stark County Probate Court. These include applications for a marriage license, marriage licenses, and marriage certifications. A marriage license is the document that allows a couple to legally marry and the marriage certificate proves the marriage.

Certified copies of marriage licensces cost $2 and marriage certificates cost $1. These may be obtained in person or by mail. If the request is made by mail, it should indicate the name of the applicants and the date of marriage. A self-addressed stamped envelope and a check or money order for the fee made payable to “The Stark County Probate Court” should be included. Mail requests should be addressed to: Stark County Probate Court, 110 Central Plaza South, Suite 501, Canton, Ohio, 44702-1413.
Divorce records are kept by the Stark County Clerk of Courts. The Domestic Relations division of the Clerk’s Office handles martial and non-criminal domestic disputes, including divorces.
